To collaborate is to share. In this body of work, "To Have and To Hold", artists Susan Gordon and Victoria Wonnacott share the ironies of intimacy; dialogues between friends and lovers. The collaboration began in a shared relationship to the images from Victoria's sketchbooks; images of estrangement, loss, hope, separation, burden, death, sex, and love. The work that was created out of this collaboration presents relationships that bind and the texts that bind these relationships.

Weaver Susan Gordon chose to inlay the text "to have and to hold", laminated photocopy strips as weft in the linen web. The typewriter ribbon was committed to the binding of this text and texture. "What has been said cannot be withdrawn."
